Monoman - 'Brothers on the K'
This was the first promo I shot - a co-direction with Toby James. I wanted to have the camera locked off, with all the action happening in front of it, and it worked out pretty well.

I'd come across Monoman when they were being managed by Dropjaw. 'Brothers on the K' was going to be their next single and I offered to do them a promo for nothing. It's hard to turn down an offer like that, and so a week later we met in the front room of my flat to shoot it.

My front room is long and narrow, and with a wide angle lens on the Canon XL1 we managed to get a real sense of claustrophobia. Shooting took around six hours, and we just shot and shot, getting the band to perform over and over. We shot them in four different positions, and then comped them together in the edit, and we were all very happy with the results.

We spent about a week editing at the PPC, and persuaded the inhouse graphics team to animate the logo to go at the front of the promo. It ended up getting screened on a lot of the music channels, and considering we shot it for nothing I think we did a pretty good job.
